Hebridean Crofthouses is the trading name of Hebridean Properties, a small company based in the Western Isles, Scotland, specialising in the design and building of modern energy-efficient homes with exteriors closely based on the classic or traditional designs of croft houses found on the West Coast of Scotland.
The company believes that one of the major considerations, when building a new house, should be not just its exterior but how its exterior sits within the surrounding landscape*. While beauty is obviously in the eye of a beholder, one has only to look at the majority of modern homes built on the West Coast of Scotland in the last decade or so to see that their design has been more concerned with the interior layout rather than how they might look from the outside.
The classic Scottish designs being promoted by Hebridean Crofthouses reverse this way of thinking. Despite offering all the up to date conveniences expected in a modern contemporary home, they also ensure that, with their classic Scottish crofthouse exteriors, they are capable of blending seemlessly with the spectacular landscapes found throughout the West Coast of Scotland.
Hebridean Crofthouses can usually adapt one their traditional designs to suit a client’s individual tastes and, in conjunction with a team of highly experienced builders, can oversee every aspect of the subsequent build including fitting out the key elements of the interior such as kitchen and bathroom etc, to suit the client's requirements.
All building work is completed to a very high standard by quaified personnel. If for any reason, a client finds it difficult to make site visits, Hebridean Crofthouses is happy to supply them with a list of independent surveyors whose role could be to monitor work in progress on a regular basis on their behalf.
* This is especially true when a home is also to be used for self-catering holiday-lets.
